Wildfire Hazard Assessment and Planning

Firefighters protect people, property and resources against the devastating onslaught of wildfires. Communities especially vulnerable are those bordering or within forested regions where the veil between serenity and danger is thin. For these communities, a means of escape is vital.

In an emergency situation firefighters need to get the people evacuated as efficiently as possible so they can execute their defense strategy. To do so requires an effective means of ingress and egress.

For existing and proposed communities alike, CFS Engineering is experienced in working with fire protection agencies and on behalf of communities to develop the most effective strategies for providing emergency ingress/egress to high risk areas.

Past wildfire hazards assessment and planning projects have included:

  • Ingress/egress valuation and deficiency identification surveys and mapping
  • Value versus deficiency exchange consulting
  • Ingress/egress enhancement planning and design
  • Fuels management planning
  • Post fire habitat rehabilitation and erosion control
