CFS Engineering was founded by Clark Stoner as a specialty service civil and environmental engineering firm dedicated to helping our clients achieve their most challenging objectives. We apply the principles of simplicity and aesthetic purpose to all that we do.

The Founder
Clark E. Stoner III began his career in the sand piles of his father’s construction sites, but his passion for nature began while riding shotgun in his father’s pickup truck along countless road trips across the southwest. The geologic formations etched in his imagination a time when this arid expanse was a vast network of rivers and giant lakes.
In 1996, Clark graduated from San Diego State University with a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Straight away he went to work for Malcolm Pirnie, Inc., a highly reputable multi-disciplinary civil and environmental engineering firm working on large water and wastewater infrastructure projects in San Diego, California, and the southwest.
By 1999, Clark took on a new job with multi-national firm Montgomery Watson working all over the United Kingdom on wet infrastructure projects after the European Union passed legislation increasing regulations on wastewater discharges into natural waterbodies.
It was during this time that Clark learned to become a diversified project engineer and project manager. Clark returned home in 2002 with the idea that sustainable development begins at home. CFS Engineering was the product of this idea.
Our Philosophy
The continuous recirculatory transport of water from ocean to atmosphere to mountaintops and back to ocean is called the hydrologic cycle.
CFS (Cubic Feet per Second) is a unit of measurement representing flow, such as that of rivers. It is the flow of water that shapes the land, and yet it is land that bounds the flow of water.
One of the simplest and most profound fundamentals of nature, simultaneously yielding and unyielding, gentle and powerful, the flow of water carries the essence of all life. It is also the inspiration for our identity, CFS Engineering.
The Team
CFS Engineering is headed up by Clark E. Stoner, a professional civil engineer and land surveyor in California and Nevada. CFS Engineering maintains a small and diversely qualified professional team adaptable to challenging and unusual projects.
Our staff is young, motivated, and eager to advance their professional skills and knowledge base.

Our Location
CFS Engineering is located in Santa Cruz County, in the heart of Capitola Village. We serve all counties from Napa and Sonoma south to San Luis Obispo and to San Diego. We also extend our services east into the Tahoe Basin and Nevada.
